Happy Mother's Day!

I put together this cross stitch for my Mum and she absolutely loved it! It took me quite a while...but I got there in the end! It's quite special as the green and pink threads used were passed down to me by my Nan after she passed away, so using them for Mother's Day is a way to remember her too.

Each of the elements were composed separately. I bought the aida from Amazon (a very large piece from DMC), which only cost £5. The baby elephant was originally a stitchlet from Mouseloft, which I added to the larger piece. The border pattern was taken from a free bookmark that came in Cross Stitch Crazy Issue 174. The 'Mum' lettering was taken from CrossStitcher's Home Style bookazine. And I created the soft pink hearts myself using a programme called KG-Chart for Cross Stitch - it's free to download and allows you to create your own charts.

Have you stitched anything special for Mother's Day? Please comment and share the special projects you've been making for your Mum!
